personnae seen on a recent flight

Air travel involves a lot of hanging around; it just happens that I love sketching folk doing what folk do; all sorts of shapes, faces and sizes.
Most of these were done today on moleskin pad with fine liner. This is my first use of moleskin and and I'm hooked!  the pen just glides.

Easter morning; dawn encounter

I've been experimenting with a technique I've read about in "the Artist". image drawn in pencil; various areas painted in white gouache, some left. Black ink applied and when dry, the image placed under running water; gouache dissolves taking ink with it leaving dark bits. then watercolour washes applied on the light bits.

The image itself is that of the encounter between the Risen Christ and Mary Magdalen in the early dawn light on Easter Sunday. It's part of my meditation and also a visual aid to be used in the hospital chapel tomorrow.

Nick Clegg's nemesis?

Lord Rennard accused of sexual harassment; won't apologise. Libdem leader Nick Clegg caught between a rock and hard place; he knows there's something not right but LR holds the money. Power sex and money-----same old story.

Fineliner and watercolour wash.

Illustrrious end of an era

I've always been fascinated by the way the big carriers have changed the skyline. This is HMS Illustrious in Portsmouth harbour recently returned from the Philippines. She is about to be scrapped, the last one of the three. It coincides with end of Portsmouth as shipbuilding site for the Royal Navy.
