Acrylic painting, 10x7 ins on board. Last week I visited Sandown bay on the hottest day of this year, two quick sketches of colour and topography led to ths painting; impato and scratches! great fun doing it! (By the way, Sandown has one of the highest sunshine records of the UK and I hope this does it justice!)

swimmer; watercolour



I spend half an hour most mornings, following someone's feet or watching someone come within inches of me from the opposite direction in a narrow swimming lane. When it's not too crowded there's opportunity to look at the reflected, shades of pale blue and the effect of bubbles.

Recently I've chosen to travel by bus rather than by car; lots of interesting faces to draw! This man runs the bus depot, directing in coming buses, in his high vizjacket, waterproof stetson, ear piece, neatly shaped beard and pleasnt demeanour to drivers and general public.

I've been rejoicing at the demise of the bankers' power; last year I was incensed at the outrageous bonuses they were awarding themselves and did 2 cartoons to express my feelings. Not great art, but it certainly eased my blood pressure!
